Robert D. Weinberg, Associate

robertMr. Weinberg joined the firm as an associate in September, 2005. His practice includes all aspects of family law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Weinberg has been involved in family law litigation in the District as well as Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, and Frederick County in Maryland.

In addition to representing parties to divorce and custody actions, Mr. Weinberg has also represented minor children as a guardian ad litem in the District of Columbia. He has particularly enjoyed representing minor children on a pro bono basis, which has given him the ability to focus on the most important aspect of any litigation involving families—what is best for the children. 

In addition to representing minor children, Mr. Weinberg has regularly provided pro bono legal services by representing clients in Montgomery County, Maryland, and in the District who are unable to afford legal representation as well as by volunteering at the Self Help Center and the Attorney Negotiator Project in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. He has also volunteered at the walk-in clinic at Bread for the City in Washington.

Mr. Weinberg has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the improvement of the practice of family law. Most recently, he has co-chaired the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland. Additionally, he was the Programs Co-Chair for the Family Law Section in 2008-09 and was responsible for several CLE-oriented presentations to the family bar of Montgomery County. 

Mr. Weinberg is admitted to the Bar in Maryland and Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association (Member, Family Law Section), the Maryland State Bar Association (Member, Family Law Section), the D.C. Bar (Member, Family Law Section), and the Association of Family Conciliation Courts. He has also been a member of the Montgomery County Inn of Court.

Mr. Weinberg graduated from the University of Virginia, with distinction, in 2001. He received his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, with honors, in 2004. While in law school, Mr. Weinberg was an associate articles editor for The Business Lawyer.

Following law school, Mr. Weinberg clerked for the Honorable Patrick L. Woodward of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, and then of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Mr. Weinberg was Judge Woodward's last Circuit Court and first Court of Special Appeals law clerk.

Mr. Weinberg was born in Frederick County, Maryland, where his extended family still resides.
