Kristin Henrikson, Partner

Kristin Henrikson has been with Delaney McKinney, L.L.P. since October 2005. Her practice includes all aspects of family law at both the trial and appellate court levels. She has particular expertise and success in litigating jurisdictional, complex custody, child support and appellate issues. Ms. Henrikson is an adroit legal writer and strategist, as well as a highly skilled and experienced litigator.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Henrikson served as the Chief of the Legal Services Section for the Child Support Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Before joining the Office of the Attorney General, she was employed for four years as a staff and supervising attorney for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. She also clerked for the Honorable Ronna Lee Beck of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Henrikson was a non-profit executive director for Suited for Change, an organization that helps underprivileged women entering the work force.
Ms. Henrikson continues her volunteer efforts by serving regularly at the D.C. Family Court Self-Help Center, the D.C. Family Court Attorney Negotiator Program, and the D.C. Bar Advice and Referral Clinic. She also mentors private and government attorneys handling pro bono family law cases and legal services attorneys in complex family law cases.
Ms. Henrikson is also an active member of the D.C. Bar Family Law Section and has served on its Steering Committee, including as co-chair and program chair. She has also served on the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program's Family Law Representation Committee, on the Child Support Task Force of the D.C. Superior Court, and on the D.C. Child Support Guideline Commission. During her tenure on the Guideline Commission, the Child Support Guideline was completely revised and updated, and she was a leader during the many early-morning meetings and late-night drafting sessions which led to the final revisions.
Ms. Henrikson has led numerous trainings in the District of Columbia for judges, practitioners and law students, particularly on child support and family law jurisdictional issues. She has also testified on a number of occasions before the D.C. Council on a variety of family law issues. She is a member of the D.C. Bar, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association.
Ms. Henrikson graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1999 and received a B.A. from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1993. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Ms. Henrikson lives on Capitol Hill with her husband and son. She is a member of the Capitol Hill Chorale.
