Renee L. Stasio is Of Counsel to Delaney McKinney, L.L.P., having chosen to leave her position as Of Counsel at Howrey Simon L.L.P. in 2008 to participate in the growth of this firm and to serve as an experienced litigator with a "soul."

Ms. Stasio's interest in working on behalf of children started in 1989 when she was a teacher in a South Central Los Angeles high school after graduating from college. Despite a brief detour working as a foreign policy analyst on Capitol Hill, she worked for and on behalf of children when she handled family law cases at the Legal Assistance Bureau in Boston, Massachusetts during the summer after her first year in law school, representing low income clients in divorce and custody cases. After she graduated from law school magna cum laude, Ms. Stasio built her career as a patent litigator. However, she continued to serve children in a pro bono capacity. Ms. Stasio trained and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate - a judge-appointed advocate for abused and neglected children in the dependency court system. She taught Constitutional Law seminars at an alternative high school in San Diego, California. Ms. Stasio also served as a guardian ad litum in adoption cases.

Prior to joining Delaney McKinney, L.L.P., Ms. Stasio worked at AmLaw 50 firms as a patent litigator with experience in a wide-range of technologies, including software, internet, electronics, chemical, and mechanical. During her 13 year career as a patent litigator, Ms. Stasio represented Fortune 500 companies, as well as start-up companies in Silicon Valley. She also litigated other intellectual property cases, including trademark infringement and false advertising cases. Ms. Stasio, with financial experts, handled damages cases worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and as a result, became fluent in business valuations, lost profit analyses, and other financial models and accounting practices. Finally realizing that her true passion was working for and on behalf of children, Ms. Stasio decided to give up patent litigation and devote herself to family law as a full-time career, recognizing that her highly-tuned litigation skills, as well as her financial acumen, would translate perfectly into this area of the law. Ms. Stasio wanted to be a part of Delaney McKinney L.L.P., not only for its excellent reputation and superior lawyers, but also for its devotion to its clients and their children.

Ms. Stasio graduated with a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1989 and received her J.D., magna cum laude from Boston College School of Law in 1996. Ms. Stasio is a member of the D.C. Bar (Member, Family Law Section), the California bar (Member, Family Law Section), and the American Bar Association (Member, Family Law Section). She is also a member of the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Eastern, Central and Northern Districts of California, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
